Lolo Winterfest 2019
Posted on 12/05/18 at 09:19 PM

A group of us were discussing going to the Lolo Winterfest (Montana) this coming January, 2019.

Below is a current Winterfest 2019 flyer.  This year, they moved all the fun timed events (skijoring, slalom run and clover run) to Saturday, so they anticipate larger crowds and exposure to the sport.

Last year the Lolo Hot Springs Bar had fuel for sale and I'm told they plan sell it again this year.  But they advise bringing your own as they charge around $4.50/gallon and the closest gas station is 28 miles east in Lolo Mt. where fuel prices are much cheaper.    To be clear, Winterfest is held at Lolo Hotsprings, 28 miles west of Lolo MT on Highway 12.

Rustic cabins - some have bathrooms, others use a common washroom.  Bar has food and drinks and is open from 9:00 am - 2:00 am Friday - Saturday.  They have the large outdoor hot springs.

Winterfest fees:
  • Timed Events.  See the flyer for details.  Entry is $15/class if you pre-register, $20/class for late, same day registration.  Emphasis is on fun & skill, not speed.
  • Vintage Show.  There is a $5/sled entry fee to help defray the cost of the trophies.  We have two classes - Unrestored Vintage and People's Choice.   The show is in the Event Field across the road from the Lodge and Bar and is an on-the-snow show, so sleds have run on their own power. or be towed.
There is no fee for the vintage ride on Sunday.  They have a waiver from MT Fish & Game/USFS so that vintage sleds are NOT required to have a trail pass for the ride.  They go to the warming hut and back - around 16 -20 miles depending on which trails we take.  Club usually fires up the grill at the hut and provides hot dogs & hamburgers.

Let Stephen Phillips know if you plan to attend: pnwvsc@gmail.com.

Finally some of us are thinking of staying longer to enjoy the local trail system and play areas with

our modern, also known as 'Nice Sleds".  There are snowmobile rentals for you die-hard vintage

snowmobile riders who need a modern ride.  It is a trail and play area, so a later machine can keep up

the trails are also welcome:
