Trout Lake Vintage and Modern Riding Event
Posted on 10/30/18 at 05:19 PM

For several years Ed and Kevin have met at the Trout Lake Valley Inn in Trout Lake, WA to ride their vintage and modern sleds.  They meet around noon at the inn, then go to either Atkinsson or Flat Top Sno-Parks to test their vintage sleds. The first half day is spend riding vintage sleds they want to use that season.  After spending the night they ride their moden sleds the next day.  The motel is very nice.  The owner and her daughter prepare a GREAT breakfast of Huckleerry pan cakes, and other wonderful breakfast items with coffee.  The breakfast comes with the room.  We encourage everyone to come.  Please send an email to the club's email: pnwvsc@gmail.com if you plan to attend.

Early Season Shake Down Event
Posted on 12/04/18 at 09:16 PM

There is a conflict,  We had to change the date for our second ridding event of the 2019 Season.  This has become an annual event.  Depending on snow we will meet either at Greg Byrd's property, or Tim Halvorson's.  Last year it was at Tim's.  It was a great day.  Weather, and snow cooperated for a wonderful time.

We will have our barbeque there again.  The club will be buying our lunch!

Keep an eye open for updates as the time drawn nearer.  Let Greg Byrd know if you are planning to attend: pnwvsc@gmail.com

Lolo Winterfest 2019
Posted on 12/05/18 at 09:19 PM

A group of us were discussing going to the Lolo Winterfest (Montana) this coming January, 2019.

Below is a current Winterfest 2019 flyer.  This year, they moved all the fun timed events (skijoring, slalom run and clover run) to Saturday, so they anticipate larger crowds and exposure to the sport.

Last year the Lolo Hot Springs Bar had fuel for sale and I'm told they plan sell it again this year.  But they advise bringing your own as they charge around $4.50/gallon and the closest gas station is 28 miles east in Lolo Mt. where fuel prices are much cheaper.    To be clear, Winterfest is held at Lolo Hotsprings, 28 miles west of Lolo MT on Highway 12.

Lodging:
The Lodge at Lolo Hot Springs

Nice rooms and offers a special rate for vintage snowmobilers for Winterfest.  Be sure to mention Winterfest when registering.  The Lodge also has a large indoor soaking pool.  Call soon, as they already have 12 reservations for Winterfest weekend.

Lolo Hot Springs (Bar, hot springs & cabins)
38500 W. Highway 12
Lolo, MT 59847
General Information: 877-541-5117
Pool: 406-273-2290
Bar and Restaurant: 406-273-2297
Cabins and RV Rentals: 406-273-2294

Rustic cabins - some have bathrooms, others use a common washroom.  Bar has food and drinks and is open from 9:00 am - 2:00 am Friday - Saturday.  They have the large outdoor hot springs.

Winterfest fees:
  • Timed Events.  See the flyer for details.  Entry is $15/class if you pre-register, $20/class for late, same day registration.  Emphasis is on fun & skill, not speed.
  • Vintage Show.  There is a $5/sled entry fee to help defray the cost of the trophies.  We have two classes - Unrestored Vintage and People's Choice.   The show is in the Event Field across the road from the Lodge and Bar and is an on-the-snow show, so sleds have run on their own power. or be towed.
There is no fee for the vintage ride on Sunday.  They have a waiver from MT Fish & Game/USFS so that vintage sleds are NOT required to have a trail pass for the ride.  They go to the warming hut and back - around 16 -20 miles depending on which trails we take.  Club usually fires up the grill at the hut and provides hot dogs & hamburgers.

Let Stephen Phillips know if you plan to attend: pnwvsc@gmail.com.

Finally some of us are thinking of staying longer to enjoy the local trail system and play areas with

our modern, also known as 'Nice Sleds".  There are snowmobile rentals for you die-hard vintage

snowmobile riders who need a modern ride.  It is a trail and play area, so a later machine can keep up

the trails are also welcome:

The Last Resort Annual Show and Riding Event
Posted on 12/02/18 at 10:02 PM

The Last Resort and Pacific Northwest Vintage Snowmobile Club are sponsoring a vintage snowmobile show, and vintage snowmobile ride. The show is in the area behind the motel on Saturday February 23, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Sunday the vintage snowmobile ride will meet in the area behind the motel starting at 9:30 a.m. leaving around 10:00. We will ride the trails close to the resort returning when we are ready to come back.

Last year we had to cancel due to no snow.  Hopefully having it earlier in the year this will not be a problem.  Most of us stay in the resort's motel.  During the event there is an avalanche course.  Rooms will fill up fast, so make your reservations early!  Let Stephen Phillips know if you will be coming: pnwvsc@gmail.com.
